"Hi Linda,
I am so pleased to have received my first order from Painted Sky Fiber Mill. You do a fabulous job! I had a friend recommend your mill to me, and I am so happy they did. From our visit to see your operation, recommendations you gave me on what to do with my llama fiber, and to the great care you took in processing my order and shipping it to us (even on your labeling on our finished product), at every step you have shown care and attention to detail. I look forward to using my beautiful llama yarn in upcoming projects. Thank you to you, and everyone at Painted Sky! "

Welcome to Painted Sky Fiber MillPainted Sky Fiber Mill is a family owned and operated fiber mill located on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland. We offer total fiber processing services for all types of natural fibers including Alpaca (Huacaya & Suri), Wool, Llama, Angora, Pygora and more. Services include tumbling, washing, dyeing, blending, picking, separating/dehairing, carding, draw frame, spinning, plying, coning, steaming, and skeining. Our goal is to make the highest quality yarns, rovings, batts or rug yarn from each and every fleece.
Looking for something to set your yarns apart? Take a look at some of the beautiful color blends we've created for our customers in the photos above. We'll process your individual fleeces in their natural color blends or offer you ideas on creating beautiful colorful blends by dyeing your fleeces or adding dyed merinos, bamboos, silk noils, angelina and more. The finished yarns are stunning and the color combinations are endless. Want something different than your traditional fawn and brown yarns? Try over dyeing your fawn and brown fleeces to create some unique and interesting colors. Each fleece takes the dye differently so we cannot guarantee the final dyed color when overdyeing multiple color fleeces. Not sure what yarns to make? No problem. We'll make suggestions on the best color combinations, blending options and yarn weights based on the fiber characteristics of each fleece. Stop by for visit, give us a call or send an email with any questions and we'll be happy to discuss with you. We require fleeces to be skirted before sending to the fiber mill. Fleeces should be skirted to remove vegetable matter, seed pods, monkey balls, burrs, toenails, poop, sticks, straw and any other bedding material. Fleeces that are not skirted will be returned to the owner at owner's expense or they will be disposed of. Our mission is to create a beautiful quality product from each and every fleece. If fleeces are not skirted, we simply cannot produce a nice quality product and we will not spin a product that does not meet our quality standards.
